About the Role

Opportunity to take co-management of a good size Environmental Planning team at an international consultancy renowned for its challenging and ground-breaking projects. Our client has a network of offices suitable for this role throughout England, Scotland and Wales.

A Diverse Project Portfolio: Engage in a wide array of projects across sectors such as water, residential and commercial, defence, transport infrastructure, energy and renewables, waste, and minerals. Predominantly UK and Ireland-based, with occasional international projects.

Professional Growth: Collaborate with a vast range of technical experts in engineering, environmental planning, sustainability, and project management. This role offers the chance to broaden your skills in team and project management, business development, and technical assessment.

Leadership Impact: Influence the direction of the Environmental Planning team, particularly in response to forthcoming policy changes and emerging sectors and technologies. Play a fundamental part in the team's success.

Reputation and Standards: Join a team with an established workload and excellent reputation, demonstrated through membership in IEMA’s EIA Quality Mark scheme and thought leadership in industry working groups and conferences.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management and Direction: Lead and oversee multiple projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards. Coordinate with project teams, stakeholders, and subcontractors, and develop comprehensive project plans.

Environmental Impact Assessment: Conduct robust assessments of potential environmental, social, and economic impacts. Stay updated with relevant environmental regulations and provide industry-recognised thought leadership.

Team Management and Leadership: Provide technical and commercial expertise, lead team meetings, and mentor junior staff. Be actively involved in recruitment and on-boarding processes.

Business Development and Client Management: Demonstrate knowledge and a recognised profile in at least one development sector. Take ownership of business development and client relationship management.

Report Writing, Review and Communication: Prepare and Review comprehensive EIA reports, present findings to clients and regulatory authorities, and ensure technical accuracy and clarity in all deliverables.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in conducting and managing EIA across a variety of projects.  DCO experience highly advantageous.
  • Knowledge of environmental laws, regulations, and guidelines related to EIA processes and compliance.
  • Strong team management skills, including organisational, resourcing, training, and staff development.
  • A Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree and membership to a professional body, such as IEMA / RTPI.
